LET’S HELP MIKITA SAIDAU PAY FOR A LAWYER

Dear friends, today we are reaching out to ask for your help in supporting a young Belarusian man and former political prisoner, Mikita Saidau, who has found himself in an extremely difficult situation in Lithuania.

Mikita is only 23 years old. At the age of 19, he was imprisoned in Belarus for participating in protests. After his release and relocation to Lithuania, our organization, Dapamoga, provided him with assistance.

Unfortunately, Mikita is now facing criminal prosecution once again.

What happened?

Recently, footage filmed outside the Vilnius office of RSI Europe, a company that manufactures unmanned systems, including for Ukraine, circulated on social media.

Funeral wreaths and a photograph of the company’s director, Tomas Milašauskas, with a black mourning ribbon had been placed outside the building.

Mikita Saidau was detained in connection with this incident.

According to the information available to us, Mikita was offered money to deliver a funeral wreath to the company’s office. We believe that, due to his inexperience and trusting nature, he did not fully understand the seriousness of the situation in which he had become involved.

However, the consequences of his actions have been extremely serious.

Following his detention, Mikita was placed in pre-trial custody. According to the information available to us, he has been charged with assisting another state or its organization in activities directed against the Republic of Lithuania.

Fortunately, Mikita has now been released from custody pending trial. However, the criminal proceedings are ongoing, and he faces a difficult legal process ahead.

We are not trying to justify Mikita’s actions.

We understand that such actions, especially when directed at a company supporting Ukraine, cannot be dismissed as a harmless prank.

However, we also believe that the examination of this case must take into account not only the act itself, but also the person’s intentions, the circumstances in which he acted, and the extent to which he understood the possible consequences.

Mikita is a young man who has already endured political imprisonment in Belarus and was subsequently forced to rebuild his life in a foreign country.

In our view, other people may have taken advantage of his trusting nature and lack of experience.

We believe that the circumstances of this case deserve careful and fair consideration.

That is precisely why we are asking for your help today.
